Stratton
|
Stratton is a few miles inland from Bude and is a small village that predates it. Stratton was once the scene of a large battle at Stamford Hill named after the Roundhead Commander who brought his army across the Tamar into Cornwall during the civil war. It resulted in a Royalist victory that is remembered and re-enacted yearly during May by the Sealed Knot society. As well as being close to Bude's facilities, there are good transport links to Widemouth and Crackington Haven. |
