"Chy" is Cornish for "house" .....Chy-an-Creet in St.Ives was built as a private residence by a close friend of Master Potter Bernard Leach in about 1923 and is a comfortable house with character and space away from - but within easy reach of - the town centre. Nestling in its garden near to where the edge of town meets the enchanting Penwith Moors to the west, it is convenient for touring, walking, sightseeing in this area of outstanding natural beauty, or just relaxing. Four Diamond Quality (AA & VisitBritain) Chy-an-Creet (now a non-smoking house) is open from Spring to October for holidays and short breaks. Each of the eight centrally heated en-suite guest rooms has a complimentary beverage tray and colour television. The hotel also has a comfortable private bar (with a real fire for cooler weather) stocked with a selection of soft drinks, spirits and ales. There is also a pleasant garden in which to relax. Clean, comfortable, convenient... And amazing golden sandy beaches, the bustling town centre, picturesque St.Ives harbour and the scenic St.Ives Cornwall railway branch line are all within about 15 minutes' walk from Chy-an-Creet. To help you explore the Rosamund Pilcher country around here there is free parking in our grounds throughout your stay and many coach tours and buses for Zennor and Land's End and Penzance stop right outside. The hosts, Judith and David Tremelling, have been the resident proprietors of Chy-an-Creet since 1998. Since then, they have been awarded the English Tourism Council Four Diamond quality award and the corresponding Four Diamond award from the AA (Automobile Association).
