Wesley Cottage

The impact and influence John Wesley had within Cornwall is well documented. In most towns and villages, there are one and sometimes more Chapels (sadly some now closed and converted to houses) that were testimony to a faith that was widespread in its appeal.

In Trewint, close to Altarnun to the west of Launceston there is the Wesley Cottage, a small cottage where John Wesley stayed in the 1840s during his preaching mission in Cornwall. This is now a place of pilgrimage and is believed to be the smallest Methodist preaching place. Even within a religion who represented the poor and kept their chapels simple, the scale and humility of this cottage is quite moving.
